"Do not fear, only believe."

Recently, as I read through Mark 5, the words Jesus spoke to Jairus in verse 36 jumped out at me.  "Do not fear, only believe."  A reminder to Jairus to not allow the belief that brought him to Jesus be shaken by fear.  As I meditated on those words of Jesus, the Spirit led me to write the following prayer.

Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name throughout all the earth.  May your kingdom, your church, be active in your name all across the globe.  May we do your will even when it seems strange or foolish to us.  May we allow our belief to be stronger than our fear.  Whom shall we fear, O Lord our fortress and defender, our savior?  If you are with us, the even death cannot overcome us for we have your promise that death has no victory for those you call children.  All praises to you, Lord, for your promise.  For your steadfastness.  What an amazing God we serve!  You hold the smallest germ within your hand.  Though you may allow some of us to fall to this virus that holds the world captive, it is not because you are unable to keep people from dying.  You are able, even if you are not willing.  We will continue to praise your name.  We will continue to serve.  We will continue to seek your will though our flesh may fail.  For our treasure is not of this world.  Thank you for redeeming us through Christ.  We praise you for the gift of your Spirit who lives within us, guiding us in your way.  For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and ever.  Through Christ alone, Amen.
